Caregiver Support Services

This can be a stressful time for the people who care about those with a cancer diagnosis and are assisting with care. Family caregivers may have difficulty coping with additional responsibilities. Caregivers often benefit from participating in caregiver support groups.

The following is a list of other resources that provide support and information for caregivers.

Cancer Care, Inc
Provides information to assist caregivers as well as online support groups, telephone support groups and teleconferences for caregivers. Includes articles about care giving.

Provides care giving tips, publications, advocacy, and encouragement.

Online support groups for caregivers, educational publications, 24-hour hotline, tips on care giving. This is an especially helpful and informative site.

The Caregiver's Handbook
This online book offers practical approaches to care giving. One section of the book focuses on "Caring for the Caregiver".

Caring Bridge
While this site does not provide support for the caregiver, it does help to keep family members and friends informed, and relieves the primary caregiver of making so many phone calls or sending so many letters or emails. This unique site provides free web pages for those receiving care. If you have family that lives some distance away and you cannot call frequently to provide updates, it's a great way to keep everyone up to date.
